Travelling Potty Victim Spotted in Smiths Falls

Wednesday June 3, 2015-Travelling Potty Victim Spotted in Smiths Falls

Submitted by Kathy Botham

Relay for Life events have begun again this year in many area communities. This event raises money in support of cancer research and finding a cure. In 1986, the first Relay for Life with 19 teams took place. Last year, almost 30 years later, there were more than 400 teams in 2014 in Canada alone.
Mississippi Mills is hosting their Relay for Life this Friday June 5. In a very creative effort to fundraise, one team has made a “travelling potty”. This “potty” cleverly painted with Relay’s colors has potted flowers in the tank with “FLUSHING CANCER” on it. A sign on the back explains that the “Travelling Potty Victim” is asked to make a donation then place this potty at a new location.
On Wednesday evening, two nights before the Relay in Mississippi Mills, this potty was spotted on Pearl Street in Smiths Falls. Strategically placed on the front lawn of the latest “Travelling Potty Victim”, it got lots of looks from passersby.
Smiths Falls is hosting our own Relay for Life on Saturday June 13 at SFDCI beginning at 6pm. For more details about these or other Relay for Life events, you can look at www.cancer.ca/relay.
