Smiths Falls chief building official resigns

Smiths Falls Chief Building Official Stephen Mailloux is resigning to take a new job as building inspector for Loyalist Township.

Town councillors voted Nov. 21 to appoint a of number staff members to interim positions to fill the vacancy until a permanent arrangement can be made early in 2017. “We need to appoint people to fill in for him until the new year, when we can see exactly what we need in that position,” said Councillor Dawn Quinn.

Appointed on an interim and contract basis are Chief Building Official Ray Scissons, and building inspectors Nathan Blood, Mel Bursey and Peter Black.

Mailloux is expected to provide assistance during the transition period.
