Gerry Lowe Memorial Sens Rink breaks ground

Ottawa Senators Hometown Tour

The Gerry Lowe Memorial Sens Rink groundbreaking ceremony officially took place Aug. 20, and a few famous faces were in attendance! Kyle Turris and Mark Borowiecki of the Ottawa Senators held an autograph signing session during the 3-hour long ceremony and celebration of the new outdoor rink.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held at 5:45 p.m. at the corner of Elmsley and Cornelia streets.

The Ottawa Senators Foundation, in partnership with Gerry Lowe Memorial Committee and the Town of Smiths Falls, broke ground on the fourth Sens Rink that has been committed by the Ottawa Senators Foundation.  The Gerry Lowe Memorial Sens Rink will be a year-round recreational facility, with permanent boards and will incorporate programming for hockey (winter and summer), basketball, tennis, and other outdoor activities for all seasons.

After the ceremony, there was refreshments, inflatables/interactive games, Spartacat and CTV Ottawa on site.

This will truly help the youth of our community. Thank you to everyone involved!
