LIFESTYLE: Yoga CD release party for local Sunshine Bean Wellness sees full house

Candle-light-3

An evening to celebrate the release of a yoga CD by Sunshine Bean Wellness saw another full house at the new The Ivy on William event facility Friday, Nov. 28. Sunshine Bean Wellness is a company about being healthy, well and comfortable in your own body.  Kerry Lavigne, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200, RCYT) of Sunshine Bean Wellness, teaches “adult and children’s yoga, [I] create yoga products such as the CD and blankets for savasana and I also make herbal salves that are good for healing on both people and animals.”

The event itself was a yoga nidra class combined with mingling after the class.  The doors opened at 7 p.m., with the yoga nidra class finishing around 8:30. After the well-attended candlelight yoga class, it was time for social hour along with a sandwich, veggie and fruit platter provided by Magnolia Catering and Event Creations.

There were around 30 people in attendance, both men and women, in a wide age range.

“It was awesome,” said Lavigne,

The yoga CD consists of an introduction, two full yoga nidra practices, a short guided body scan and closing acknowledgements.  Each yoga nidra track is about 30 minutes long, with relaxation, body scan,  breath work, sense perception practice and a guided visualization.

“By the end of a nidra practice, most people are very relaxed and calm,” she said. “Some people fall asleep as well, and that is just fine as they must need it.  The body scan takes you on a guided journey of the body, helping bring awareness of how you are feeling and deeply relaxing the body at the same time.”

The CD is $15, and will also be available in MP3 format on her website next week. For now, you can check her out on Facebook by clicking here.

She said she’s very happy with how the CD turned out, and is very glad the whole process is finally done.

“I’m hoping that people will enjoy it and use it as a tool to unwind from the stresses of daily life,” she said.  “I was a bit nervous about the whole process and putting my work out there, but in the end, I am proud of what was accomplished.  To that end, I need to say thank you to Randy Orr, of The Furnace Room, for his help recording and mastering the CD.  I also want to thank Darlene and Amy [from The Ivy on William] for their support of this venture and to all the other amazing teachers at the studio for their support as well.  In addition, I really want to thank the people that show up to my yoga nidra class every week.  I wouldn’t be teaching what I love without them.”
