Kids’ Book Launch: Natasha Peterson at Carleton Place Public Library

11:00am – 12:00pm
Carleton Place resident Natasha Peterson debuts Gayle the Goose Goes Global, a children’s book that is both a feel good story & educational.
Gayle is a regular Canada Goose, except for one thing. She is directionally-challenged. When her frustrated flock flies away leaving Gayle behind at migration time, Gayle is forced to either sit back and wait for their return, or take matters into her own wings by migrating on her own. Gayle takes on the challenge of a lifetime, and migrates alone. While on her journey, Gayle visits many of Canadian greatest landmarks and learns that she can both survive and thrive on her own. When Gayle returns to share her adventures with the rest of her flock, the geese begin to wonder if her quirkiness may be just what the flock was missing. Perhaps a change from the ordinary routine would do them all a little good.

Carleton Place Dragon Boat Festival

Carleton Place will once again find Riverside Park teaming with excitement. Preparing for another successful year, we plan on another full festival with 46+ teams – over 1100 paddlers and drummers coursing across the finish line with a large number of spectators cheering them on. Visitors from all over Eastern Ontario are drawn to this event.
The Race Format has changed for 2015 onwards. A few highlights:
Two 400m races and one 200m race
Two final races (“A” Final and “B” Final)
Come, be a part of the The Fall 400™ Dragon Boat Festival – Carleton Place’s newest tradition and one of the world’s oldest.
The mission of the Festival Committee is to host the best (fun & well-run) small, one-day dragon-boat event in Eastern Ontario. We are a non-profit organization that returns 100% of the proceeds back to the community.

Jimmy Tri-Tone Band @ Farmers’ Market at Market Square

10:30am – 12:00pm
“JTTB is James Walters (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Randelle Ashley (bass, keys, mandolin, harmony vocals). James has a fantastic, gravelfilled voice and a really engaging (and slightly menacing) intensity when he performs that is perfectly suited to songs about outlaws, lost loves, and life. Randelle’s piano accompaniments are fluid and suggest that she has spent a lot of time in front of a keyboard. Together, the duo plays a mix of alt-folkcountry originals and rearranged covers that really suit James’ rich baritone. I was really impressed with the songwriting on the originals; there was lots of inventiveness in both the music and the lyrics — like I said, these two work hard.” — Rob Riendeau, Pub Crawling, TheHumm.
